Borussia Dortmund wins after the break in the DFB Cup
For the duel between the ex-Borussia Kevin Grosskreutz and Borussia Dortmund, it had been up in the run-up, the match of the first round of the cup between the third division KFC Uerdingen and BVB. But next to the longtime Dortmund player Großkreutz fought, ran and grazed ten more Uerdinger and made life difficult for the big favorites. Only in the second half of the Bundesliga beat 2: 0 (0: 0). Marco Reus and Paco Alcácer took care of the goals of the Black and Yellows.
Especially in the first half, the team of Lucien Favre had problems with the hosts, who had avoided the Düsseldorf stadium. Dortmund had begun for the first time with the additions Mats Hummels and Thorgan Hazard in the starting eleven. Returnees Hummels had some strong head-balling on offense, but also made some minor mistakes in the defense. One would have used the Uerdinger almost to the leadership. The BVB was superior, had many chances, but did not find the way to the goal until the break.
That changed only after the change. Marco Reus converted a cross to 1: 0, but he had taken in accepting the upper arm to help. Since in the cup the video evidence is only used from the round of 16 and the referee did not intervene, counted the hit. After that, the game was as good as decided. The favorite had the game under control since then, the hosts lacked the opportunities to counter. After a free-kick Alcácer made it 2-0 after 70 minutes.
SV Sandhausen - Borussia Mönchengladbach 0: 1 (0: 1)
The debut of coach Marco Rose in German football has succeeded. The coach celebrated with Borussia Mönchengladbach a hard-fought 1-0 away win at second division SV Sandhausen. The game had to be kicked off with a 45-minute delay, because a storm and a lightning strike had made an earlier start impossible.
Gladbach's new striker Marcus Thuram made the victory perfect with an early goal in the 19th minute. The Frenchman converted a wide flank strike by Tobias Strobl by flying head to the lead. A class difference was, however, not seen in the first half. The second division played courageously forward, had numerous opportunities - and failed again and again on strong Borussia goalkeeper Yann Sommer. The picture changed hardly in the second half, in a hectic final phase, the Bundesliga team saved the time.
FC Ingolstadt - 1. FC Nuremberg 0: 1 (0: 0)
Bundesliga relegated 1. FC Nürnberg moved into the second round of the DFB Cup thanks to a late goal by Nikola Dovedan. The access from 1. FC Heidenheim scored in the 1-0 (0: 0) of the second division at third division FC Ingolstadt in the 87th minute the decisive goal.
