Boxing: Manny Pacquiao is now the oldest World Welterweight Champion

Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao has added another title to his illustrious career. The 40-year-old defeated American Keith Thurman on points (115: 112, 115: 112, 113: 114) in Las Vegas, taking away the WBA Welterweight Super World Title. "It was fun, I think we made the fans happy tonight because it was a good fight," said Pacquiao.

Pacquiao defeated his previously undefeated, ten years younger opponent already in the first round to the ground. After that, however, the fight was largely open, so that in the end was a close 2: 1 verdict in favor of Pacquiao, who is also WBA World Champion in this class.

Pacquiao lets fans vote on Twitter about their next opponent

For Pacquiao it was the 62nd win in his 71st professional fight, 39 by K.o. He is considered a folk hero in the Philippines. The boxer has since May 2016 a seat in the Senate of the Southeast Asian island state. Pacquiao won in his career World Championships in seven weight classes.

Most recently, Pacquiao had his fans vote on Twitter about the next opponent. The choice fell on his rival Floyd Mayweather junior, but it will probably nothing more. In 2015, the "Pacman" lost to "Money" Mayweather the most endowed boxing match in history. The American Mayweather cashed around 150 million, Pacquiao 100 million dollars Gage.
