Pep Guardiola’s team defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final second leg – and is in the final of the premier class for the first time in club history.
Manchester City won the semi-final second leg of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 (1-0) and is in the final of the premier class for the first time in club history.
The team trained by Pep Guardiola took the lead in the 11th minute. Riyad Mahrez completed a lightning strike from City. PSG hit the crossbar through Marquinhos (17th), but were overall too harmless. In the second half, too, little changed in the image of the calmly defending city professionals and the unimaginative Parisians. The French team, who lost 2-1 at home in the first leg, did not want to score a goal. Instead, PSG ran into a counterattack from Manchester City, which Mahrez again put in goal (63.).
Then Angel Di Maria lost his nerve, after a kick against Fernandinho with a throw-in, he saw red (69th). Shortly afterwards, Marco Verratti also applied for a dismissal, but narrowly escaped a second yellow card. Manchester City then missed the 3-0, Phil Foden missed the best chance when he hit the post (78th).
Manchester City will face either Chelsea, coached by Thomas Tuchel, or Real Madrid in the final in Istanbul. The second leg of the two teams is on Wednesday evening in London.
