CHIO in Aachen - 0.37 seconds - Sport
The Grand Prix of Aachen is decided in the jump-off in a conceivable tight finish: Kent Farrington (USA) wins in front of the German Daniel Deußer.
Kent Farrington won the Grand Prix of Aachen. The show jumper from Greenwich in the US state of Connecticut prevailed on Gazelle with the fastest error-free ride in the jump-off. The 38-year-old relegated the equally flawless Daniel Deußer on Tobago Z to second place - only 0.37 seconds missing Deußer to victory. World Champion Simone Blum (Alice) came fourth as the second best German behind Ben Maher. Both couples had one drop each. The final highlight of the world's largest tournament is considered the most prestigious test of equestrian sports. Eighth place surprisingly reached Sven Schlüsselburg. The 37-year-old CHIO debutant from Ilsfeld managed two rounds with Bud Spencer without dropping, only conceding two penalty points because of timeout. Last year's winner Marcus Ehning had no chance for a repeat of the success after the first round. At the last jump, the 45-year-old from Borken conceded a throw-off with Funky Fred; Ehning came in at the end of rank 20. Christian Ahlmann (Marl) with Clintrexo and Hendrik Sosath (Lemwerder) with Lady Lordana failed in the same place.
