News : Constellation of national and international stars at the Andújar Meeting
Spectacular meeting that awaits us on Spanish soil this Saturday, May 22. If on Sunday 23rd we have a very strong dish such as the first stop of the Diamond League in Gateshead with the presence of several Spaniards, the day before we will have a magnificent aperitif in Jaén with the Andújar Meeting. Not only will there be some of the best national athletes, but there will also be top-level international names such as the world triple jump record holder Yulimar Rojas.
In addition to granting points to the participants to be able to attend the Tokyo Olympics next summer, for Spanish athletes it will be the last chance to shine before the European National Team Championship, which will be held at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów (Poland) on May 29 and 30.
Rojas, one of the great stars
Starting with that triple jump, Along with Yulimar Rojas will be the two best Spanish triplists, Ana Peleteiro, who reached 14.31 in Ibiza a few days ago, and Patricia Sarrapio, with a personal mark of 14.27. Fajdek arrives with a mark of 74.48m in his participation in the last European Cup of throws in Split, but surely he will give us a mark above 80 meters, a barrier that he has already overcome 58 times, nothing more and nothing less. Along with him will be another Pole of the same generation, Wojciech Nowicki (MP 81.95m), current European champion, a title he achieved in 2018 and three World Cup bronzes, who arrives with a 77.80m mark achieved on May 9 and the French Quentin bigot (78.58m), runner-up in the world in 2019.
