News : DFB: Marco Reus does not participate in the European Championship after consultation with Jogi Löw
Marco Reus will not be part of the German squad of national coach Joachim Löw at the European Football Championship. The 31-year-old announced this on Instagram. “After a complicated, exhausting and, thank God, successful season at the end, I decided, together with the national coach, not to go to the European Championships,” wrote Reus.
This decision was “very difficult for him,” wrote the midfielder. But “after a very intense year for me personally and achieving my goals at BVB, I made the decision to give my body time to recover.”
Reus last played for Germany in October 2019 and won the DFB Cup this season with Borussia Dortmund. On Wednesday national coach Löw will announce his squad for the EM starting on June 11th. It is not known whether Löw would actually have nominated Reus.
