European Club Association - Watzke on the ECA Board - Sports
German football will in future have three representatives on the committees of the European Club Association ECA. Borussia Dortmund's club boss Hans-Joachim Watzke was elected at the General Assembly in Geneva in the expanded from 13 to 24 seats Board. This board is already owned by lawyer Michael Gerlinger (Bayern). Fernando Carro (Managing Director Leverkusen) was nominated for the Club Competitions Committee (CCC). Before the election, Watzke had agreed with Carro that only he ran as a German representative for the board; Carro replaces Gerlinger in the CCC. ECA boss remains Andrea Agnelli (Juventus Turin).
