Ex-Schalke manager Heidel suffers stroke on vacation

The jet then got Heidel home to Mainz. "Clemens did not hesitate a moment, we are infinitely grateful to him," said companion Buchholz the sheet.

Heidel, who led a car dealership prior to his career as football manager, built the FSV Mainz 05 to Bundesliga club from 1992 to 2016, before moving to Schalke as sports director. In a turbulent season 2018/2019, in the Schalke barely managed the league, Heidel stepped back prematurely.
