News : FC Bayern and Corona: positive test at Serge Gnabry – Sport
In the remake of last year’s final in the Champions League against Paris St. Germain, FC Bayern will have to replace world footballer Robert Lewandowski as well as Serge Gnabry and Marc Roca. National player Gnabry tested positive for the corona virus. Bayern announced this on Tuesday evening. At lunchtime, coach Hansi Flick had reported about Gnabry’s sore throat.
The offensive player is doing well so far, it said in a message. Gnabry is in domestic isolation. The 25-year-old had already tested positive in October and missed two games. Because he tested negative shortly afterwards, Bayern speculated about a possible false positive test.
According to the new, expanded DFL hygiene concept, Gnabry could have been tested with a rapid antigen test the morning before entering the club’s premises. Later, the findings could have been confirmed by a PCR test – one possible reason why Trainer Flick initially spoke of a sore throat.
The Spaniard Roca was injured on Sunday and “is therefore not there,” said Flick. Despite the failures for the quarter-final first leg on Wednesday (9 p.m. / Liveticker SZ.de), which also misses the injured Corentin Tolisso and Douglas Costa, Flick is optimistic.
“We want to go to the semi-finals, so we have to focus on both games. That is our goal and our job,” said the coach. As a route he gave: “If we lose the ball, we have to have access quickly, present our attacks confidently and play them off better than in Leipzig.”
The comparison with the duel won last August (1-0) is not possible from the coach’s point of view. “It’s a new game, a new team, Paris have a new coach,” he said of the opponent. PSG is now coached by Mauricio Pochettino, who replaced Thomas Tuchel (now Chelsea FC).
