Shortly after the qualifying pitch of Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel in Formula 1 also left Mick Schumacher at the Formula 2 race any luck. Mick Schumacher finished the race with about one lap behind the leader. After all, he was able to close the gap to the field and finished the race after 40 laps in 19th place. The victory was secured by the Japanese Nobuharu Matsushita.

Mick Schumacher finished seventh in qualifying for the Formula 2 race at the Red Bull Ring this Saturday. The 20-year-old son of Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher needed 1: 14.488 minutes on Friday in Spielberg for his fastest lap on the 4.318-kilometer circuit. He was missing in the Prema race car to a place in the first row less than 0.2 seconds. The 24-year-old Dutch leader Nick de Vries secured pole position in Austria.

In the Formula 2 Grand Prix qualifying session in Austria, Louis Deletraz dominated the field and set a fastest time of 1'14.782. Nyck de Vries finished second, ahead of Luca Ghiotto, Nicholas Latifi and Jack Aitken. Mick Schumacher finished in 12th place in the Spielberg training.
