Segovia Javi Guerra and Barcelona's Marta Galimany have proclaimed themselves this Sunday, within the 36th Zurich Seville Marathon, Spain's distance champions with brands that qualify directly for the Tokyo Olympics.

Javi Guerra kept an exciting hand in hand throughout the test with Hamid Ben Daoud, Young Moroccan-born fondist based in Biscay who relied on his terminal speed to snatch the title, but the Spaniard held the pace in the last two kilometers and kept him at bay.

Ben Daoud must still wait

Both Guerra (tenth with 2.07: 27, third best Spanish brand in history) and Ben Daoud (twelfth with 2.07: 33) beat their personal records with marks widely below the Olympic minimum, so they are shortlisted for a Tokyo Games in which Daniel Mateo will also be exempted from the Championship of Spain thanks to his tenth place in the Doha World Cup. Ben Daoud must wait in case some Spanish tries in some other marathon in the coming months, but he has it very expensive.

Galimany, against the clock ... with Pablo Villalobos

Marta Galimany's career was much more agonizing, because ran out of rivals for the national title around kilometer 30 and had to fight the clock alone, with the invaluable help of a luxury hare like Pablo Villalobos. Galimany was the eleventh woman to cross the finish line with a time of 2.29: 02, less than half a minute of margin over the Olympic minimum, and shares the podium of the Spanish Championship with Aroa Merino (17th with 2.36: 04) and Mercedes Pila ( 19th with 2.42: 56).

The Ugandan athlete Juliet Chekwel, won the sixth edition of the Zurich Marathon in Seville with an informal time of 2.23: 13, which exceeds the record of the test held since last year by the Ethiopian Gutemi Shone with 2.24: 29.

The winner traveled to kilometer 40 along with the Ethiopians Gada Bontu and Sifan Melaku, who could not continue in the final packaging and that they were second and third in goal with respective marks of 2.23: 39 and 2.23: 49, also below the Shone brand.
