Gladbach legend Harald Nickel died at the age of 66
"Our sympathy goes to his relatives," wrote the Bundesliga club on Monday night. Nickel had played for the foals from 1979 to 1981 and scored 43 goals in 84 competitive matches, including the 1979 goal.
The attacker had switched from Eintracht Braunschweig to the Böckelberg for the then considerable transfer fee in the amount of 1.15 million Mark. Previously he had played in Belgium and the Netherlands. He was later awarded in the return leg of the second round of the UEFA Cup against Inter Milan, when he shot the ball from 40 meters from the turn into the Italian goal. During his time Gladbach nickel was nominated for three international matches.
