Grief in the German football world: Former international Harald Nickel has lost the fight against cancer. At the age of 66 is the former player of Borussia Monchengladbach died on Sunday as "kicker.de" writes.

Mourning for former international Harald Nickel

In the Bundesliga Nickel played for Arminia Bielefeld, Eintracht Braunschweig and Borussia Mönchengladbach. In 1979, Nickel moved from Braunschweig to "Fohlenelf" for a record payout of 1.15 million marks. The striker scored 48 goals in 97 games. He played for the national team three times between 1979 and 1980. At the 1979/80 UEFA Cup, he was named top scorer with seven goals.
