ITU Hamburg Triathlon 2019: Track, Timetable, Blocking - All information about the biggest triathlon in the world!
At the Triathlon in Hamburg Both amateurs and professionals compete in the disciplines swim, Running and cycling. The Hamburg Wasser World Triatlon as part of the ITU World Series 2019 is the largest event of its kind worldwide. At the 18th Hamburg Triathlon, around 10,500 participants compete, either individually or in the relay, either via the sprint distance (0.5km swimming / 20km cycling / 5km running) or the Olympic distance (1.5km swimming / 40km cycling / 10km running ) go to the start. The route takes the athletes along the Alster, the Landungsbrücken and the Reeperbahn. What you need to know about the sports event on 06. and 07. The route from the Hamburg World Triathlon 2019 at a glance
Also this year, the organizers of the ITU Hamburg Water Triathlon 2019 have come up with a challenging course for the athletes. Right in the heart of Hamburg, the route takes the athletes through the Alster, along the Elbe by bike and finally on foot towards the wheelhouse. The starting shot of the Hamburg Triathlon is in the Binnenalster, where participants have to swim through a tunnel. Special difficulty: the lighting conditions in the nearly 40 meter long tunnel are extremely bad.
Then it goes for the participants on the bike, where they pass numerous attractions, including the Speicherstadt, the landing bridges, the Reeperbahn and the Lombards Bridge. Then the running track leads the athletes north to the Outer Alster. The entire route as a map you will find here!
Current closures around the Hamburg Triathlon
The organizers expect about 300,000 spectators, who will cheer on the athletes along the way. For residents and motorists, however, the sports spectacle again becomes a test of patience. As in previous years, guests and residents must count on numerous road closures in the city center. Our tip: Leave your car at its best. Instead, switch to subway and suburban trains.
