"We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Jared today, July 3, 2019. We again thank for all the heartfelt wishes and prayers, but as a family we ask for respect and privacy," means it's in a family statement to the Kentucky Sports Radio. "In deep sorrow, the family of Jared Lorenzen wishes to express her sincere thanks and appreciation for all her support and prayers in the last six days."
Cause of death Kidney failure: That's why Lorenzen came to the hospital
Already last week, the 38-year-old was hospitalized for heart and kidney problems. Because of an infection, the athlete was treated in the intensive care unit. The cause of death was allegedly kidney failure.
Lorenzens football career began already in the high school in Kentucky. In 2004 he was contracted as a free agent with the New York Giants. Fans affectionately called him "Hefty Lefty" because of his unusual 130 kilo weight for a quarterback. In 2007 he won with the Giants the victory against the then undefeated New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. After retiring from professional sports Jared Lorenzen fought against his strong overweight of 250 kilos. With a strict diet, he managed to lose 50 pounds, writes the New York Post.
