News : Kathleen Krüger in baby luck: FC Bayern Munich has to do without a team manager

Confidants of the stars: Bavaria’s team manager Kathleen Krüger is expecting the first child

Kathleen Krüger, team manager at FC Bayern, is expecting offspring. This means that the players have to do without an important confidante for a while. Manuel Neuer describes the former player as “indispensable”. And for Bayern, Krüger even lets Pep Guardiola flash.

Kathleen Krüger is in demand at FC Bayern as a link between club management and the team. The players maintain a close relationship with the 35-year-old and are said to have been informed about the good news for several weeks: Krüger is pregnant.

According to the “Bild” newspaper, the team is said to have reacted to the announcement with applause. The child should be born in May, so it is quite possible that Bayern will have to do without Krüger in the end of the season. For a very good reason, but you will still miss your manager. The former player is very much appreciated in the club.

Krüger at Bayern: player requests come “every minute”

As a team manager, she organizes travel and accommodation, among other things, but also has an open ear for other needs. The players trust her – so much that she is the only person outside the team who belongs to the Bayern Stars WhatsApp group.

“She is the one that holds the team together. No matter what problems we can come to her,” said Thomas Müller of “Sport Bild”. Captain Manuel Neuer even went one step further: “From my point of view, she does an outstanding job and is indispensable for us.”

Krüger is usually in her office on Säbener Straße from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., but is actually available around the clock, seven days a week. Individual player requests come “every minute”, as Krüger said with a grin: “This is the deal I made.” With Uli Hoeneß.

Hoeneß brought Krüger to Bavaria’s men’s team

He brought the all-rounder in 2009 as an assistant to the then team manager Christian Nerlinger. Krüger had recently ended her active career at the age of just 24. “At that time there was only a nice pocket money for the effort,” she justified the step.

While Nerlinger soon left his job, Krüger was promoted: 2012 to team manager. The fact that she is one of the few women who can work full-time in men’s football is what she described in the “FC Bayern Podcast” as “winning the lottery”.

Krüger won a job at one of the largest football clubs in the world. And recognition too. Former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola was so convinced of her abilities that he wanted to bring her to Manchester City – in vain.

In her office, however, Krüger still has a memory of the time with the Catalan. According to the Munich club magazine “51”, Guardiola’s assistant Domenec Torrent left a handwritten message on a magnetic board next to her desk: “You will always be in my heart.”

Krüger is planning a comeback at Bayern

That Krüger decided against the offer from England is not surprising: The 35-year-old is not only very competent in her job, she also fully identifies with FC Bayern, she speaks of “my club”. According to the “Bild” newspaper, she wants to continue doing her job fully as a mother. After all, her contract is for an indefinite period, her supervisor being CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who will be leaving in early 2022.

In the next weeks and months, Krüger, who keeps her private life away from the limelight with her partner, will probably focus on the family. The individual player wishes should then be spared you at least for a while. As a mother, she will then be in demand in a different way as a crisis manager.
