News : Long, thin shadows – sport

For exactly 26 minutes of play on Tuesday evening, fans of TSV 1860 Munich were able to marvel at a perfect lightning table: the Munich Lions had collected 60 points and scored exactly 60 goals. Above all, the intermittent 1-0 win against Viktoria Köln had lifted the team to second place in the third division, i.e. a direct promotion position. In the end it stayed with the 60 goals, but not with the 60 points: The guests wrestled a 1-1 draw from the sixties – so the team of coach Michael Köllner will stay in fourth place on Wednesday evening when the matchday is over .

Köllner was nevertheless satisfied: “That was a top game, it was a pleasure to watch,” said the 51-year-old. Incidentally, local rivals FC Bayern Munich II, who also played on Tuesday, failed to win after taking a lead. After Sarpreet Singh’s goal (35th minute) at FSV Zwickau, the equalizer for the 1-1 final score fell in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Bayern are now even deeper in the relegation battle.

Sascha Mölders will meet for the 21st time this season

In the Grünwalder Stadium, the sixties, which had been undefeated for six league games, began tentatively, the defenders threw long, thin shadows on the lawn during the often leisurely build-up of the game. But gradually they approached the goal, and the first sharp cross came over the left side: Richard Neudecker crossed to captain Sascha Mölders, who still got his foot on the ball, but with his volley shot it past the far corner (15. ). The scenes in the Cologne penalty area increased, so the first good opportunity for the guests was all the more surprising: Sechzig’s goalkeeper Marco Hiller deflected a placed header from Timmy Thiele, while he followed up with Thiele, but the excitement subsided immediately ( 24.).

Before the break, Viktoria appeared again dangerously in front of Hiller, this time the 24-year-old had to dive head first and clear the ball in front of Mike Wunderlich, who was ready to shoot (34th). Nevertheless, the lead was deserved when Mölders scored for the 21st time this season (38th), the Lions had earned significantly more shares in the game. Like last Saturday in the 2-0 away win against Türkgücü in the Olympic Stadium, it was particularly noticeable at 1-0 how well Mölders and Richard Neudecker are currently harmonizing: With a perfectly timed pass through the center, the 36-year-old veteran was cleared and had no problems to slide the ball flat into the empty far corner.

A free kick on Stefan Lex’s goal net heralded the second half, but after that the guests showed that it was not entirely by chance that they had not been defeated since the beginning of March. Hiller got a lot to do again, attacker Mölders could or had to rest a little because the game shifted to the lion half. The equalizer was not long in coming: René Klingenburg shot from ten meters after a header was dropped and shot the ball into the net unsustainable (64th).

1860 coach Köllner claims to have seen one of the best performances of his team

Perhaps after the tour, the sixties had started to think. The goal, however, obviously shook the team, and the game suddenly became more intense. Fabian Greilinger not only felt this, but also heard it when Cologne’s captain Wunderlich bent over him after winning a duel and yelled at him triumphantly (68th). In any case, Greilinger was wide awake now, which he demonstrated with an impressive sprint with which he was able to defuse a dangerous Cologne counterattack (76th).

“After the 1-1 draw, we tried with a lot of passion and dedication to win and also to prevent the second goal,” said Köllner, who wanted to see one of his team’s best performances. Semi Belkahia, who scored a dust goal at the weekend, was just as unable to score the next goal (79th) as Erik Tallig, who shot a low shot just wide of the goal, Cologne goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz only looked after (84th). Nevertheless, the draw was okay in the end, because the guests also pushed for victory and left good counter-chances.

When asked by Magentasport whether the hunt for the three top teams was going on, Belkahia was forced to answer: “Of course.” On Saturday 1860 is a guest at Waldhof Mannheim. From a Bavarian point of view, the current matchday ends on Wednesday with the Derby Unterhaching against Türkgücü and the guest appearance of the still third-placed FC Ingolstadt in Lübeck.
