Madrid also succumbs to the coronavirus and cancels its marathon
The 2020 edition of the EDP Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Marathon & 1/2 (Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k), scheduled for November 15, has been definitively canceled due to the coronavirus pandemicorganizers announced Monday.
“Considering the evolution of Covid-19 in the world, and after analyzing all possible alternatives together with the sports authorities of the Madrid City Council and the Community of Madrid to carry out the event, lWe regret to announce the cancellation of the 2020 edition“, Report the organizers.
The final cancellation, trasa first postponement due to the coronavirus pandemic, constitutes - they affirm - "a hard blow for the entire organizational team that, since the health emergency was decreed, has worked tirelessly trying to find a solution to be able to celebrate the race, guaranteeing the maximum security measures for all participants."
“Now we need your enthusiasm, enthusiasm and solidarity to help us continue working day by day in what we are most passionate about. And together we will make the EDP Rock n Roll Madrid Marathon & œ come back in 2021 stronger than ever ”, they point out.
Runners registered in the 2020 edition will be able to choose between the three available options, before August 31, 2020. The first is to save the registration for the 2021 edition (September 26); the second transfer the registration to any of the editions of the years 2022 or 2023, and the third request the refund of the registration fee and the extra services contracted (less management costs).
The organization recognizes that it is living "one of the most difficult moments in its history", after "42 years of dreams fulfilled in the streets of Madrid" and demands solidarity from the runners.
