Maxim Dadashev: Russian professional boxer dies after a serious head injury

Russian professional boxer Maxim Dadaschew has died after suffering a head injury in Oxon Hill / USA. The 28-year-old had succumbed to his severe injuries in a hospital in the United States, said the Russian boxing association on Tuesday in Moscow.

It will examine the case and the treatment in the hospital very closely, said head Umar Kremljow. Previously, the super light weight had been operated from St. Petersburg and put into an artificial coma.

Dadaschew had suffered heavy strikes on Friday night (local time) in the fight against Subriel Matias (Puerto Rico), so his coach threw in the towel at the end of the eleventh round as a sign of duty. After that, the boxer was taken out of the ring on a stretcher.

He was diagnosed with severe brain damage. The association would support the family financially, it was said.
