News : Misery: 19-year-old breaststroke swimmer breaks 12-year-old German record
Olympic starter Anna Elendt celebrates a German record at the German swimming championships. The 19-year-old hit the 100 meter chest in 1: 06.50 minutes in Berlin on Friday. She is 51 hundredths of a second faster than Sarah Poewe at the 2009 World Cup in Rome.
Elendt, who started for SG Frankfurt, won the title clearly ahead of Julia Titze (Munich) and Bente Fischer (Neckarsulm).
In the national championships taking place in the 2021 finals, some German swimmers will test their form before the games in Tokyo that begin on July 23. Others, such as the medal hopefuls Florian Wellbrock and Sarah Köhler, do without the races in the capital and continue to prepare for the Olympics in training.
