News : Movistar becomes the new technological sponsor of the Valencia Half and Marathon
Movistar joins the family of sponsors of the Half Marathon and the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP Marathon as a technology partner. The agreement to join as a test partner, which was sealed today at the Movistar Store in Valencia between Paco Borao, president of the Correcaminos Sports Society, and José Manuel Casas, territorial director of Telefónica in the Valencian Community, it will be for the next three editions and was created with the aim of helping to technologically promote both careers. The brand will be positioned as an Official Brand in the sponsorship structure of the events, together with CaixaBank and Coca-Cola.
Movistar is one of the leading sports sponsorship companies in our country. The telecommunications brand will be present on December 6 in the Elite Edition, supporting the Organization of the Middle and the Valencia Marathon to take a technological leap that allows further improvement at the organizational level.
In this way, the entry of Movistar as a technological partner will provide runners with useful tools before or during the tests and will mean the incorporation of new features to make the Valencia Half and Marathon a more dynamic test. These innovations include arches and led screens at different points of the route where data of interest of the race, motivational messages or the live broadcast of the race will be displayed, or a system that will allow the visualization of the route in 3D to follow the test and identify its main points of interest.
Likewise, the transformation of sports competitions motivated by COVID-19 has led Telefónica to incorporate into the race a Covid-19 distance control and traceability system to make the test a clean and safe space. This system will measure the traceability of contacts between the organization’s staff and the volunteers, with real-time alerts if the minimum safety distance is breached, or with notifications via email since the system allows anonymous detection of whether a user has had close contact with a hypothetical positive case (infographic attached).
The alliance between Movistar and the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP Half Marathon and Marathon is one more step in a collaboration that already took place in previous years with the production and broadcasting of the event, as well as the development of additional audiovisual content.
