News : Once a HSV star, arrested today: Mustafa Kucukovic involved in drug deals?
Two men alleged to have traded several hundred kilograms of drugs were arrested on Wednesday. According to media reports, one of the two is the former HSV player Mustafa Kucukovic. He once played in the German U21, then his career failed.
As the police announced on Thursday, a 29-year-old and a 34-year-old are urgently suspected of having obtained a total of almost 230 kilograms of marijuana, around 30 kilograms of hashish and 50 kilograms of cocaine and sold them in Hamburg in April and May 2020. Both men have now been arrested in Hamburg and Gelsenkirchen.
As “Bild” and the “Hamburger Abendblatt” report, the older of the two arrested men is the former HSV professional Mustafa Kucukovic.
One of the drug dealers is said to be a former Bundesliga player
Kucukovic played in the Bundesliga in 2004 and was also part of the U21 national team alongside Manuel Neuer, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Mats Hummels, among others. But although he was considered a great talent, his football career failed.
Overall, the investigators are said to have seized almost 20,000 euros in cash, several cell phones and several hundred foreign SIM cards in addition to the drugs in the apartments of the two accused as well as in a so-called bunker apartment in Eimsbüttel. The police investigation is still ongoing.
