Or London or Valencia Marathon
In an interview with the Marca newspaper Eliud Kipchoge he has touched on several current issues, including where he plans to run next fall. The Kenyan are these days in his residence in Kaptagat with his family while normality does not return to training camps. Even so, maintains a strict training routine while little by little it is unraveling what will happen with those tests that must be carried out in a few months. Eliud was due to run the London Marathon in April and the Tokyo Games in August, but both have been ruined by the coronavirus crisis. A priori, the appointment in the British capital will be held on October 4.
London first choice
"I would like to run in LondonBut, if it can't be done, I would like to do it in Valencia. We don't know what will happen tomorrow. Only my health is in my hands and trying to make mine well. That is my priority. If the borders are opened and you can compete, I will ", he says convinced. It is the first time that he openly talks about the possibility of running in the platinum label marathon of the Spanish city, to be held on December 6. If he runs in London, it is normal for Kenenisa Bekele to do so, with whom he was going to face both England and Japan at the Olympic event.
“When I had to stop training in sports centers because of the quarantine. Of course it affected me knowing that the London marathon was postponed and, above all, knowing that there would be no Games until next year. It was one of the hardest moments of my life because I had been training very well. We are facing a situation of great uncertainty, but we must follow the instructions to try to turn the page respecting the lives of others, your family and your neighbors. It is the only way to live in this world ”, he explains about what has been the hardest moment in recent months.
On whether next year he will compete directly in the Games or participate in another marathon earlier, he is clear: “My idea is to run earlier because it is the way to know how you are. I will run a marathon before the Games. "
