News : Oumaiz, for the Spanish Record as Cheptegei’s ‘guest of honor’

Oumaiz, pictured competing in Monaco this summer

It is one of the proper names of this summer. Ouassim Oumaiz has established himself as one of the standard bearers of the next generation of the Spanish fund after setting off several stellar performances and, without going any further, smashing the Spanish Under-23 Record of 5,000 meters in the Diamond League meeting held at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco (13.13.14).

The Nerja already showed that he was returning with great strength after winning the return of the official competition precisely in his town of residence and from there he has not stopped growing in a dream summer in which he also achieved the Spanish Record of 5km in route in Nijmegen (Holland) with a time of 13:19, remaining a single second behind the European record held by the Frenchman Jimmy Gressier.

McSweyn and Kipchirchir, for records

Well, Oumaiz will be one of the participants on October 7 in this challenge by Joshua Cheptegei to attack the World Record of 10,000 meters in Valencia in a test organized by the historic SD Correcaminos, the NN Running Team and Global Sports Communication , team and representation company that lead the Ugandan. Ouassim will do so with the ambitious intention (and taking advantage of his magnificent form) of surpassing the national record of the distance held by Fabián Roncero (27.14.44). In addition, the Australian Stewart McSweyn, another of this summer’s names, and the American Shadrack Kipchirchir will also seek national records.
