Former Australian tennis pro Peter McNamara died at the age of 64. This was announced by a friend of the family on behalf of McNamara's wife Petra. As "one of the good guys in the tennis"Three times Wimbledon winner Boris Becker praised him on Twitter.

McNamara was best known as a double specialist alongside his compatriot Paul McNamee. Together they won in 1980 and 1982, among others Wimbledon as well as the 1979 Australian Open. McNamara died as a result of prostate cancer. "Hard to believe that Macca has gone out after 50 years of friendship - a toast to these great contemporaries," his former partner McNamee wrote on Twitter.
