Report: TV station Eurosport sells Bundesliga rights

This reports the "Bild" newspaper. DAZN had at the next assignment of rights in any case, in order to offer the Bundesliga rights and packages to buy. The Perform subsidiary would have had to wait until 2021 for this to happen. Only for the season 2021/22, the transmission rights for the two Bundesligen will be awarded again.

So far, DAZN only transmitted highlights of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. As of next season, 30 Friday games, five games on Sunday at 13:30 and five Monday games will be added. The relegation games were last in the Eurosport Player. However, DAZN had lost in competition with Sky and the live rights to the Premier League, which until now represented the flagship of the streaming service.

Bundesliga: Eurosport gets off after two years

At Eurosport, however, the Bundesliga lights go out after only two seasons. 70 million euros had paid the transmitter at the last award for his two rights packages. The broadcast was then on the Eurosport Player or the TV channel Eurosport 2 HD Xtra.

Already in June had TV expert Matthias Sammer, who had previously accompanied the Eurosport games in a duo with moderator Jan Henkel, announced his retreat. At that time the Dortmund master coach of 2002 gave personal reasons.

For what reasons Eurosport now gives the TV rights to the Bundesliga to the competitors DAZN, is still completely unclear. The first TV game to be broadcast by DAZN will then be the match between Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Köln on Friday, 23rd August. The opening match of FC Bayern against Hertha BSC on Friday, August 16, will be broadcasted on Free-TV.
