After a violent impact in the trial run, Daniel Andre Tande is flown to the hospital. According to the doctors, his condition is stable.
Ski flying world champion Daniel Andre Tande fell badly in Planica, Slovenia and had to be taken to hospital. On Thursday, the 27-year-old Norwegian got into a leaning position in the trial run right after the jump and hit the front of the huge facility in Planica after 78 meters. After initial medical treatment, Tande was brought by helicopter to the nearest hospital in Ljubljana and treated there.
About an hour after the fall, a spokesman for the FIS World Ski Federation gave the first all-clear. Tande’s state of health was “stable” after being transported by helicopter, it said. Further tests and treatments are now to be carried out in the hospital in the Slovenian capital.
Tande not only hit hard after his fall, but also slid down the slope at high speed after the impact. Tande became individual world champion in ski flying in 2018 and in 2020 – in Planica – won the flight gold medal in team jumping.
