+++ 07/15/2019: Dive-hunter Barthel and Massenberg in the synchronized jump finale +++
Timo Barthel and Lou Massenberg have reached the finals in synchronized jumping from the tower at the swimming World Cup. The duo from Dresden and Berlin reached on Monday in Gwangju in Vorkampf with 378.96 points to sixth place. In the final of the top twelve teams on Monday (13.45 / CEST), the first three pairs in addition to the medals also secure an Olympic starting place. After the disappointing finish of Tina Punzel and Lena Hentschel in the synchronized jumping of the three-meter board had water jump coach Lutz Buschkow a little later reason to rejoice. "The boys got what they could and that's a nice thing," he said.
The athletes themselves rated this World Cup exam as well. "We are very satisfied for our first competition and I was not nervous now because we did not really have any pressure," said 23-year-old Barthel. His five years younger colleague quickly put the tension off. "I was a little bit nervous before the first jump, but that went pretty well during the competition," said Massenberg.

Schmidbauer showed a new leap in the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series competition on Sunday in Lebanon.
Schmidbauer is not one of the favorites, but the next fourth place gives hope for a good World Cup result. "I want to bring or top my personal best," said the 24-year-old.
+++ 07/15/2019: World Cup disappointment: Women's jumper retire in the preliminary fight +++
The German sprinters Tina Punzel and Lena Hentschel have to digest a World Cup disappointment. In the synchronized jumping of the three-meter board the European Championships finished second with 253.59 points in 13th. About four points were missing on Monday in Gwangju for the final of the top twelve teams.
Punzel had already suffered a World Championship defeat on Sunday, when she and Christina Wassen had to take the last place in the final of the synchronized competition from the tower. In both disciplines, the German jumpers had no chance of a medal rank and thus on a premature Olympic ticket been granted.
"We are disappointed accordingly," said Punzel. The 18-year-old Hentschel wanted to donate a "big hug" to the 23-year-old team-mate. Of course we are nervous, but we can not say exactly what did not vote, "said Hentschel.
Until the single from the three-meter board on Thursday, the athletes have digested the frustration. "We have to tick that off now. In three-meter single we still want to get the quota place. That's our goal, "said national coach Lutz Buschkow. This must be the final feeder ago. "Now it's all about drawing the right conclusions for the World Cup in Tokyo in three-meter synchrony," said Buschkov. Next year, it's about the remaining Olympic grid positions.

To date, Hungary's 38: 1 against Croatia in 1994 had been the highest victory.
The victory of the Dutch women on Sunday with 33: 0 against South Africa is behind the 1994 game number three in the ranking - relatively harmless. The New Zealanders were allowed to cheer on their own goals at 3:22 against the USA.

At the finish, the rival of the past years had a comfortable boat ahead. "Due to the changing wind conditions you could not compare the times in advance," complained Zeidler. His preparation in the coming weeks should not disturb this: "Checking off, it goes on towards the World Cup."
+++ 14.07.2019: German synchronized swimming duet increases at World Cup - Olympia Chance +++

The duo from Berlin took sixth place on Saturday at the swimming World Cup in South Korea in Vorkampf. With 376.44 points the European Championship thirds were just under two points behind third place, which would bring in the final on the same day an Olympic starting position.
Our plan was to somehow manage the top 6. If we can do that again, we'll be super satisfied, "said Hausding, who was a bit irritated by the low scores for all couples. But the German art-jumper duo did not let that worry much, as did the clear pre-fight winners Cao Yuan and Xie Siyi from China.
+++ 13.07.2019: World Cup debutant Frach at the first swimming decision on 18th place +++
The open water swimmers Niklas Frach and Sören Meißner have not been able to intervene in the first decision of the World Championships in South Korea as expected in the medal fight. Over five kilometers, the 21-year-old World Cup debutant Frach took a decent 18th place on Saturday in Yeosu. The 29-year-old Meißner finished 23rd in the victory of the Hungarian European Champion Kristóf Rasovszky in 53: 22,1 minutes.
For a long time, the race stayed in the harbor basin of the 2012 World Exhibition Center. In the final phase favorite Rasovszky but then settles. Silver went to the Frenchman Logan Fontaine with about ten seconds behind, the Canadian Eric Hedlin took bronze. To spare for the more important ten-kilometer race on Tuesday, which is about the Olympic qualification, many top open water swimmers decided not to start over the non-Olympic distance. That took advantage of Rasovszky, who also wants to go back on Tuesday.
+++ 12.07.2019: Water springer Hausding after "Nervenkampf" in the one-meter final +++
Water sprinter Patrick Hausding has reached the final of the one-meter board at the swimming World Championships after a nerve-racking preliminary fight. The record European champion qualified in ninth place in Gwangju on Friday in non-Olympic competition with 357.20 points for the decision among the top twelve artificial jumpers on Monday. His 22-year-old team-mate Frithjof Seidel collected his 34th World Cup experience and missed the final on Sunday. The first preliminary fight of the title fights won the Chinese Wang Zongyuan with 429.40 points.
"It was a pretty nerve-wracking, so having an unfortunate season like mine so far will make you more and more nervous," Hausding said. But the 30-year-old played out his routine and fought his way forward with the three and a halffold somersault in the third of six rounds "back in the race". No one wishes for twelfth place before the last round, "said Hausding, who starts in South Korea in singles and in synchronized jumping from the three-meter board.
"We made it extra so that he takes the one-meter competition to jump in," said coach Lutz Buschkow. Hausding has been through a difficult season so far due to injury, and he was slowed by a middle ear infection shortly before the World Cup. "He can take a mental strength," Buschkow said after the preliminary fight.
A failure have to cope with the water jumpers too. Due to back problems, 17-year-old Pauline Pfeif has to adjourn the World Cup debut to 2021 and can not start this time.
+++ 12.07.2019: World Cup hopefuls Wellbrock: Open water swimming makes "harder" +++
The German swimming hopes Florian Wellbrock is not worried about the Olymia qualification in open water at the World Cup. He does not believe "that the Olympic qualification in open water swimming, for which I am in the top ten swim must be such a big hurdle, "said the 21-year-old in an interview with the" Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung "(Friday)." That's not my claim. I want to get a medal. "
European champion Wellbrock wants to start at the World Championships in South Korea initially over ten kilometers in the open water in Yeosu and then swim in the pool races over 800 and 1,500 meters.
Asked whether free-water swimmers are a special swimmer, Wellbrock said: "I would say they are looser." For open-water swimming, the tension before take-off is not so high, because until it really matters, you have one more hour Time." For example, Dutch Olympic champion Ferry Weertman "for a while always jumped in with a bombshell and I'm waiting for the day when a 1,500 meter swimmer jumps into the water with an ass bomb." Nobody can afford that. "
Wellbrock would recommend any long-distance swimmer in the pool to try open water swimming. "I would say that you get harder with open water swimming."
Swimming ten kilometers is a mental challenge, said the Magdeburger Wellbrock. For him, especially the last 100 meters made the open water swimming. You can not compare that to the pain you have in the pelvis, I do not want to say that the open water is more exhausting, but it's a different kind of pain Feeling is already helpful for pelvic swimming. "
+++ 11.07.2019: Swimming World Cup starts in South Korea +++
The sprinters and synchronized swimmers open the swimming world championships in Gwangju, South Korea, with their competitions on Friday. Germany's best water jumper and record European champion Patrick Hausding wants to qualify for the final on Sunday from the one-meter board. In addition, Frithjof Seidel is present from 04.00 (CEST). +++ 07/11/2019: Free water national coach Lurz before the World Cup: "powerful force" +++
Open water national coach Stefan Lurz starts gladly in the swimming world championship in South Korea. "I am positive that we bring a very powerful force at the start," said the brother of the twelve-time world champion Thomas Lurz of the German Press Agency. The latest results have been "very positive".
At the races in Yeosu, he and his team want to forget the messed-up World Championships two years ago in Budapest. After the title fights in Hungary, which ended without medals for the previously successful German open water swimmers, "we had to sit down and talk about a few things," said Lurz. "Since then it has been more successful again." His team is making "a reputation and a name again."
After the failures in 2017 Lurz also questioned himself. "After consultation, it was relatively clear that we are jointly trying to overcome the dry spell," he said. The open water swimmers start on Saturday (1:00 CEST) with the race over five kilometers of men in the World Cup. Sören Meißner and Niklas Frach want to swim for Germany.
+++ 11.07.2019: Ex-swimmer Biedermann on world title 2009: Even grandma gave interviews +++
Swimming world record holder Paul Biedermann is planning a party for the possible ten-year anniversary of his best marks over 200 and 400 meters freestyle. "If the two world records or one of them are still standing, I make a small celebration to this anniversary," said the 32-year-old in the interview of the "world". At the 2009 World Championships in Rome Biedermann had in world record time on 26 July gold over 400 meters and two days later brought over half the distance. In the 200-meter race he had defeated US superstar Michael Phelps. At the beginning of Friday World Cup in South Korean Gwangju Biedermann's records are attacked again.
Biedermann can not remember the Rome races. "I remember feeling good in the 400-meter freestyle lead, but I can not even remember the preparations for the finale or the day after that, how wiped out," he said. "It was so overwhelming, and after the successes, so much was pouring in on me that it seemed like I was in a frenzy, and I do not even remember what I said afterwards."
The world championship triumphs were for Biedermann at that time "an enormous door opener". "The success of 2009 has allowed me to do my sport as a professional," he explains. And not only for him were the consequences noticeable: "Even my grandmother had to give many interviews."
+++ 11.07.2019: Water springer Hausding praises conditions before World Cup start +++
Germany's best water springer Patrick Hausding has gained a positive first impression of the South Korean World Cup venue Gwangju after the arrival and is looking forward to the start. "The people here are very polite and very helpful, my impression is first consistently positive," said the 30-year-old record European champion of the German Press Agency on Thursday. The hall on the university campus, where Hausding and its competitors opened the water jump competitions this Friday (4 clock / CEST) from the one-meter board was "very good, nice and very bright".
Similar to the Olympic Games, the athletes in Gwangju are not housed in different hotels, but in an athletic village. "That's cool, because you always feel a bit more collaborative in such a village," said Hausding.
+++ 07/11/2019: Klipspringer Halbisch has to cancel the start at swimming world championships +++
The German Swimming Association has to cope with an injury-related cancellation shortly before the start of the World Cup. Cliff jumper Manuel Halbisch can not start after falling a month ago. The 21-year-old came up on his back, injured his own words on the lungs and suffered a slight splenomegaly. Until recently, the World Cup start was open, this week was the decision against the trip to the World Championships in South Korean Gwangju.
"First I want to get 100% fit and prepare for the upcoming season," Halbisch said. He took the European Championship next year in high diving, as the official name of the discipline at the World Cup, as the next target target.
In the competitions of 20 meters (women) and 27 meters (men) height is now Iris Schmidbauer the only German starter. The medals will be awarded here for the start of the second week of the World Cup. The World Championships will start this Friday and last until the 28th of July. The DSV is represented with over 60 athletes.
+++ 10.07.2019: Water jumper Hausding: For WM-medal "a lot has to fit" +++
After a difficult year with numerous injuries, Germany's best water springer Patrick Hausding is not one of the absolute World Cup top favorites. "After this bumpy season a lot has to fit for a medal," said the 30-year-old German press agency. "But it can always happen, I would not have said before Budapest that I finished second and did not say before Rio that I would finish third," Hausding said with reference to his silver medal at the World Cup two years ago in Hungary and bronze Olympia 2016 in Rio de Janeiro - each from the three-meter board.
Hausding took a long time to get in shape after a heavy practice crash in January. He also had knee problems. At the beginning of Friday World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, the Berliner wants to start from the one-meter board and the three-singles and in synchronous competition with the 23-year-old Lars Rüdiger from three meters height.
+++ 06.07.2019: Chances to win the World Cup sprint of sprinter Wolfram +++
The World Cup start for diver Martin Wolfram is becoming more and more likely. The European Champion of 2015, who repeatedly fought back after several shoulder operations, had to miss the German Championships because of back problems. In the immediate preparation for the title fights from 12 to 28 July in South Korean Gwangju, the 27-year-old left a good impression.
"Martin has implemented some very nice units, so I'm very optimistic about his use of the three-meter board," said coach Lutz Buschkow on the Olympic Fifth of 2016 and Olympic Eighth of 2012. Late, he traveled last jumped water jump colleague Lou Massenberg in preparation for the season highlight.
The World Cup in South Korea is also about Olympic starting places. Shortly after the World Championships, the European Championship will be in Kiev from 5 to 11 August.
+++ 04.07.2019: Ex-national coach Lambertz criticized successors in the Swimming Association +++
Former swimming national coach Henning Lambertz rejects the practice of his successors to let the best swimmers work individually with their own coaches. "This works, but must never replace a clearly organized and structured system," criticized Lambertz in the "Rheinische Post" (Thursday). Never could such a healthy and long-term successful float company arise.
+++ 30.06.2019: Deutsche WM-Starter bei Freiwasser-Meisterschaften in guter Form +++

Juli in Gwangju/Südkorea statt.
August in Kiew an.
