The London Marathon its incredible roster of elites ... and Farah as a hare!
A few days ago the organization of the Virgin Money London Marathon confirmed that the test would be held on the scheduled day and time, but that much to their regret they canceled the popular race and were forced to modify the usual circuit: several laps in a much shorter tour in Saint James's Park in the capital. In addition, it was confirmed that the marks would be valid for the Tokyo Olympics, so the test went on to attract much more the attention of elite athletes from around the world who are looking for that minimum to be able to attend the Olympics in Japanese soil.
A simply brutal elite list
This Friday the organization has released the official elite list that will participate in the race. Without a doubt, the poster is of authentic luxury beyond that already confirmed duel between the two best marathoners of the moment, Kenenisa Bekele and Eliud Kipchoge. Among those top-level athletes we can find the Ethiopian Geremew (2:02:55), the Kenyan Kipserem (2:04:11), the Ethiopians Wasihun (2:03:16), Tola (2:04:06) and Kitata (2:04:49), the Norwegian Sondre Moen, who recently achieved the European Record of the hour, but was invalidated by the shoes, Lemma (2:03:36) and many other stars in the background.
But perhaps the name that has surprised us the most is Mo Farah, not on the list of participants, but in that of hares. Undoubtedly a "pacer" of real luxury, the British of Somali origin, double Olympic champion of 10,000.
As for the female elite, they will accompany the already confirmed and current world record holder Brigid Kosgei (2:14:04), Kenyan Chepngetich (2:17:08), Ethiopians Dereje (2:18:30), Azimeraw (2:19:26) and Bekere (2:20:14) or the Kenyan Cheruiyot (2:18:31) and Jemeli (2:19:10), along with another string of top-level athletes.
