News : The Nerja Challenge, for Olympic minimums: Schedules, streaming and duels
Spectacular meeting we have on May 12 in Nerja (Malaga). A new edition of the Meeting ‘Nerja Challenge’ and in which some of the best mediofondistas of the national scene and other top-level athletes in search of Olympic minimums will meet. We are entering the decisive stage in this classification for the Tokyo Olympic Games and the athletes are beginning to be in that optimal point of form to achieve that primary objective. The records to beat are tough and scenarios like this Wednesday in the town of Malaga are a great opportunity with high-level opponents to lead a fast race.
Seven events will be held on the athletics tracks of the Ciudad Deportiva Enrique López Cuenca: In the men’s category, 1,000m, 1,500m, Hammer and Pole, and in the women’s category, 1,000m, 2,000m and Hammer. In the 1,000 meter test Jesús Gómez, Ignacio Fontes, Mariano García or the veteran Manuel Olmedo will try to beat the best Spanish mark from the story of Fermín Cacho (2:16:13). Qataris Jamal Al-Hayrsni and Murbarak Rabi Mohamoud will also be there.
The 1,500, with Olympic dreams
In 1,500 there will be a spectacular poster with Ouassim Oumaiz, Mohamed Katir, El Khayami, Nassim Hassaous and Gonzalo García looking for the Olympic minimum of 3:35:00.
We will return to see Esther Guerrero in competition again, one of the great protagonists of the indoor season and who will also try to attack the best Spanish mark of 1,000 meters (of Maite Maiora with 2: 33.06). He will compete against Solange Pereira or Daniela García; In the 2,000 meters Marta Pérez, Irene Sánchez-Escribano or Blanca Fernández will compete for the victory.
