News : The Spanish Record of 1,500 Chunk falls! Katir leaves Monaco

Katir grits her teeth on an epic arrival in Monaco

Brutal. Mohamed Katir continues to leave us speechless. The athlete from Mule, who a couple of weeks ago achieved the national record of 5,000 meters with a mark of 12.50.79, has destroyed the time in the Diamond League of Monaco in the 1,500 test. He has beaten a mythical Spanish Record by Fermín Cacho dating from 1997 (3:28:95). What a career we have lived in the Stade Louis II in Monaco, for the annals of history. We knew, from participants and what the Monte Carlo track usually means, that we would experience something great, but not on this scale.

Following Jakob

Katir, what had a personal best of 3.33.63 achieved this same season in the open air, has stuck to the wheel of Jakob Ingebrigtsen from the beginning while Timothy Cheruiyot followed the hares like a madman. Jakob has made a change of pace from 800 or so and the Muleño has been behind. But it is that Jakob was not fine and Mohamed has looked strong. Very strong. He has gone after Cheruiyot and has almost surpassed him. Finally the Kenyan won with a time of 3:28:28, a personal best, and Katir did 3:28:76.

And stuck, just five tenths, has entered Katir. With the tenth best mark of all time, be careful. An atrocity. Jakob has entered 3.29.25. McSweyn, 3.29.51.
