News : The unexpected competitive comeback of Jacob Kiplimo in Italy
The 2020 world half marathon champion in Gdynia, one of the proper names of this time of pandemic and in an exceptional moment, returned completely unexpectedly to the competition a couple of days ago in Italy. The Ugandan, who trains with Joshua Chepetegei’s team (Kissa, Chemutai, Kibet, Chesang…) in Kapchorwa, reappeared in the Italian National Cross Championship. He did it in the 10k test, where (as expected) he achieved victory with nothing more and nothing less than 40 seconds of margin over the second, an Iliass Aouani who was proclaimed champion of Italy with a time of 30:49. Niyomukunzi from Burundi won a women’s event in which Nadia Battocletti was the national champion, finishing fourth overall.
Kiplimo, on stage in Italy
Kiplimo wore the colors of Atletica Casone Noceto and wrote a message on his Instagram account about it: “It is not my usual outfit to run today, but it is my team’s to open the year 2021. Happy to be back and contribute with a victory to win the Italian National Championship again ”. In addition, Kiplimo thanked the mayor of Noceto, Fabio Fecci, for the invitation and the visit to the city council after winning the test ”. What’s more, recently the African has shared another post thanking the city of Clusone for letting him use the track (beautiful) with “a magnificent view of the mountain.”
And it is that Jacob has been doing a stage of several weeks in the transalpine country, where he stayed at the charming Igea Marina hotel in Rimini, touching San Marino. We will see what Kiplimo’s new challenge is and if he already stays in Europe to face future competitions.
