In just a few weeks we will see in competition again (how excited we are) the current world marathon record holder, the Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge. Kipchoge participates in the ‘NN Mission Marathon’ organized by his team, the NN Running Team, together with the communication company that also carries the image of Eliu, ‘Global Sports Communication’. The test will be run on a 10.5-kilometer circuit that will have to be completed four laps in the center of Hamburg on April 11. Since the last London Marathon in October, in which Eliud registered the worst result of his career, we do not see the, for many, the best marathoner of all time in action.

Two great teams that are scary

Well, that NN Misson Marathon will serve to prepare the appointment that the African athlete has marked in red on the calendar, which is none other than the Tokyo Olympics (the marathon event will be in Sapporo). Without a doubt, the Kenyan national team, made up of Eliud himself, Amos Kipruto, Lawrence Cherono and Vincent Kipchumba, will be one of the most powerful along with the Ethiopian. The women’s team, meanwhile, will be made up of world record holder Brigid Kosgei, Ruth Chepngetich, Vivian Cheruiyot and Peres Jepchirchir.

The Kenya Olympic Committee yesterday presented the two teams, these eight athletes who will represent Kenya in the Japanese country, and the financial aid they will receive. The organization allocates one million shillings (7,600 euros), that is, approximately 960 euros per athlete to prepare that appointment. Taking into account what most of them earn for winning ‘majors’ and achieving world records (especially Kipchoge, who has taken hundreds of thousands of euros throughout his sports career, full of records and victories in’ majors ). In any case, it is an effort by the Kenyan committee to promote those races in Sapporo where they aspire to everything.
