Tour de France 2019 - Stage 15: Yates wins, Thomas makes time on Alaphilippe
Simon Yates prevailed on the 15th stage of the Tour de France. The British cyclist won in the Pyrenees on the route from Limoux to Foix d'Albis before Thibaut Pinot, who had won the Tourmalet stage on Saturday, and Mikel Landa. Fourth was the German Emanuel Buchmann.
Overall leader remains Julian Alaphilippe, who finished eleventh. The time advantage of the French in the overall standings, however, decreased: pursuer Geraint Thomas made up 27 seconds for him. Third is Dutchman Steven Kruijswijk, followed by Pinot in fourth.
On Monday is the second day of rest of the tour. On Tuesday, the sprinters then have the last chance before Paris to win the stage. The route leads out of Nîmes and after 23 kilometers on the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct. After a loop back to Nîmes, where a sprint finale is expected.
