Tour de France in live ticker: Buchmann wants to shine in the Pyrenees again
Tour de France, 15th stage (185.5 km)
+++ Live-Stand: Rennspitze - 52 seconds - 2nd peloton
13:02, 41 km: Wellens in the mountain jersey meanwhile falls back into a second main field, the distance is getting bigger. So it's getting tight to keep the spotted jersey.
1:01 pm, 40 km: But even this prominent group can not settle, the main draw is back. The reason: the incredibly fast pace. Almost 50 km / h, the field has been on average since the start.
12:58, 38 km: While Kluge has rejoined the rear, his team-mate De Gendt, who has already launched the first attack of the day, managed to pull a gap to the peloton with a troop of about 15 riders. Among others: Peter Sagan, Simon Yates and Patrick Konrad.
12:46, 30 km: Roger Kluge already has some problems, and we're not even on the up. Could be a tough day for the Germans.
12:44, 28 km: Now in Alexey Lutsenko a strong climber tries an attack - but like all previous attempts, he has no chance. It remains a very dense field.
12:37, 25 km: The lead of 18 seconds in between is already gone, the quartet is overtaken.
12:31, 19 km: The first group has now dropped off, Daniel Oss, Benoit Cosnefroy, Lukasz Wisniowski and Nicolas Roche form the quartet - Marco Haller from Austria tries to stay tuned.
12:27, 12.5 km: At the same time the track gets steeper, then attacks should be more successful. So far, no one can settle great.
12:22, 10 km: Led by Peter Sagan in the green jersey, the first breakaway group has been set again. The peloton stays close together.
12:17, 6km: Slowly the field pulls apart a bit. First outliers have been found, including Tim Wellens in the mountain jersey or Magnus Cort Nielsen.
12:12: Belgian Thomas De Gendt takes over and sets a fast pace.
12:10: After 2.5km of neutralization is now strongly pressed into the pedals: The sharp start takes place.
12:05: Let's go in Limoux, first with the "fictitious start".
10.05 clock: Emanuel Buchmann is the surprise of the tour. Here you can read what makes German cycling hope so fast.
Welcome to the live ticker of FOCUS Online. Final in the Pyrenees! This Sunday (12.10 / One and Eurosport) the last of three parts in the Pyrenees is on the program. On the 185.5 kilometers from Limoux to Foix Prat d'Albis, the professional cyclists around top pot Geraint Thomas have to overcome three mountains of the first category. It's about valuable time in the Tour de France's overall standings - and the prestigious victory in a mountain finish.
Stage: The last climb, with 11.8 kilometers and an increase of 6.8 percent, is again impressive, with mileage 121 and 147 first class climbs on the program. After a strong day at the Tourmalet, German overall classification hopeful Emanuel Buchmann has another go, followed by a rest day and two rather flat stages. The section is as hard as the stage with the goal on the legendary mountain at 2115 meters altitude the day before.
favorites: The dreaded Ineos-train around Geraint Thomas and Egan Bernal is ailing, but on the first mountain stage day winners Thibaut Pinot and yellow bearer Julian Alaphilippe shone instead. It is unclear how classic specialist Alaphilippe beats after his previous gala performances in the last of three stages of the Pyrenees. The 26-year-old Buchmann should meet the steady increases. He has so far proven his strong form.
German: Buchmann is well in the race, he is fifth with a gap of 3:12 minutes. Otherwise, the German drivers are so far without victory in the biggest cycling race in the world. The 37-year-old veteran Andre Greipel can no longer compete in the sprints, Tony Martin deducted the time trial and even attacks by Nils Politt or Maximilian Schachmann brought nothing. That it works on Sunday with the first victory of the day in 2019, is unlikely despite Buchmann. Especially since Schachmann is no longer present after his fall and broken middle hand.
