Maximilian Schachmann on the expectations of his first Tour de France, the skepticism about professional cycling in Germany and how he thinks about the "Operation Aderlass".
Maximilian Schachmann is one of the best German cyclists of the current season. The Berliner was third in the heavy Ardennes classic Liège-Bastogne-Liège, won three stages in the Basque Country Tour and last on the Sachsenring the German road bike title. This Saturday, the 25-year-old from the Bora-hansgrohe team - like ten other German riders - will start the Tour de France in Brussels. It's his debut at the year's peak.
