Stage 17: Tour de France in live ticker: heat battle in front of the Alps
Julian Alaphilippe waving the 13th yellow jersey at this year's Tour of France. If everything is running normally, his overall lead should not be in danger. Rather, the 17th section is made for outliers - or for Peter Sagan.

Welcome to the live ticker of FOCUS Online. The baggage of the 106th Tour de France moves straight to the Alps. At the interim in Gap the outliers may hope for a chance on the 17th stage on Wednesday - maybe the last one. After that, there are three stages in the Alps and the final piece to Paris.
Stage: On the 200 kilometers from the Pont du Gard to Gap, the cyclists have to tackle a rise of the fourth and the third category respectively. The latter ends 8.5 kilometers from the finish, the subsequent descent leads directly to the finish Gap.
favorites: The stage is made for outliers. The classification riders this should certainly be convenient, finally waiting from Thursday, three heavy Alpine stages. But even the three-time world champion Peter Sagan has the section safely in view. Already in 2015, he had made a daring descent on the way to Gap and took second place.
Yellow jersey: Julian Alaphilippe should once again be able to save energy, which is even possible in the heat of the day. If everything goes according to plan, the Frenchman picks up the yellow jersey for the 13th time. His lead over the British winner last year is 1:35 minutes. Emanuel Buchmann is 2:14 minutes back in sixth.
German: Maybe Simon Geschke will try his luck again. Already on the stage after Foix Prat d'Albis, the Freiburg had started a breakaway - ultimately unsuccessful. In 2015, he finished fourth in Gap. Also for Nils Politt this stage would be the last chance to show up in a breakaway group.
Heat: On Wednesday, temperatures of just under 40 degrees are announced again. Drinking a lot is the motto again. The drivers will take up to 1.5 liters per hour, well over five liters during the race.
