U21 European Championship: Spain defeats France - Final against Germany
After the German team also Spain has won its semi-finals at the European Under-21 Championship and moved into the final. Against France, the selection of coach Luis de la Fuente won 4-1 (2: 1).
For just under half an hour, the French team looked good and Philippe Mateta put Équipe Tricolore on the penalty spot in the 16th minute. But before the break Marc Roca (28th minute) also met with a narrow margin from close range and Mikel Oyarzabal penalty (45 + 5) and turned the game in favor of the Spaniards.
The 2017 European Championship finals met not only late in the first half, but also swiftly after the restart: Fabián Ruiz crossed Dani Olmo, who defeated France goalkeeper Paul Bernadoni (47.). In the 67th minute, only four minutes after his substitution, put the former Wolfsburg Borja Mayoral after the fourth Spanish goal.
The win puts Spain in the final in Udine on Sunday (20.45 clock, live ticker SPIEGEL ONLINE), where the German team is waiting. The U21 of coach Stefan Kuntz had defeated Romania 4-2 earlier in the evening. Spain and Germany had also contested the final of the previous World Cup in 2017, which Germany had won 1-0 through a goal by Mitchell Weiser.
