Wave of solidarity miles to fight the coronavirus
With the coronavirus crisis, solidarity initiatives multiply. From private initiatives to great solidarity actions that value the work of those who are at the forefront of the pandemic, in order to mobilize resources to face it.
One of the most surprising is the #YoCorroEnCasa Challenge, which included the participation of some of the best mountain runners in the world, such as Pau Capell, Sheila Avilés, Tòfol Castanyer and Kilian Jornet, able to raise 82,940 euros with a virtual marathon.
Organized by the journalist Albert Jorquera, a total of 7,429 bibs were assigned after donating on the website www.yomecorono.com for the benefit of the team of doctors and researchers from the Fight Against AIDS Foundation, IrsiCaixa and the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital. In total 73,747 kilometers were completed.
This donation will help the team of doctors and researchers who have started a pioneering clinical trial to define what drugs will be used to immediately treat those infected, prevent contagion in their contacts and find a vaccine against the virus.
