Women's World Cup 2019: Norway wins spectacular game against Australia

Norway won their FIFA World Cup knockout stages 4-1 in Nice on penalties in Nice and have reached the quarter-finals for the first time since 2007. After 120 minutes it had stood 1: 1. The opening goal was scored by Isabell Herlovsen (31st minute), Australia equalized by Elise Kellond-Knight (83rd minute).
Not even 30 seconds had been played, as Australia's star player Sam Kerr had almost brought her team into the lead. At the left corner of the box she got rid of her opponent with a body shuffle, pulled after them and shot narrowly past the left post. A few minutes later, it was their strike partner Hayley Raso, who tested Norway's goalkeeper Ingrid Hjelmseth after a nice double pass in the opponent's penalty area (6).
Australia squeezed, Norway scored: Karina Saevik sent a strong pass to Herlovsen, who took advantage of Alanna Kennedy's poor positional play to free himself from Williams in the right corner (31 ').
Compensation through a directly transformed corner
Then again excitement on the other side: After Maria Thorisdottir jumped on the arm just before the break (or was it still the upper body?), Referee Riem Hussein first decided on penalty. Video umpire Felix Zwayer intervened and after the referee had watched the scene many times, she revised her original decision. The controversial end of a spectacular half.
The pace continued after the restart. For Australia, Caitlin Foord (52nd and 58th) and Tameka Yallop (62nd) equalized, and Graham Hansen dropped Norway 2-0 (56th and 64th). Curiosity: Kellond-Knight scored in the 83rd minute with a corner kick that went through the opponents and midfield opponents and hit the far post. It should not be the last spur of regular time: In injury time Graham Hansen met with a beautiful shot only the inner post of the Australian goal.
The overtime was followed by chances on both sides every minute, including a crossbar by Vilde Bøe Risa. In the 104th minute flew Kenedy after an emergency brake from the square - it was the first red card at this World Cup. Outnumbered, the Australians saved on penalties. There awarded Kerr and Emily Gielnik. All four Norwegian players made sure.
The quarterfinal opponent of Norway is determined in the match England - Cameroon (Sunday, 17.30 clock, live ticker SPIEGEL ONLINE).
